Encouragement

Encouragement

Well, so far we have covered:

Commitment – to commit to something and finish the task at hand no matter the situation.
Optimistic – Expecting good things to happen; staying positive through good and bad!
Mentally Tough – Pushing through times when you are tired and exhausted mentally to fulfill your duties.
Prepared – Always knowing what you are going to face and being ready for any     thing that is thrown your way.
Love – My Favorite, giving up your own wants and desires for the benefit of others.

Then next character word of Complete Player is Encouragement.

Our definition of Encouragement is to give somebody hope, confidence or courage. The great Cleveland Browns coach and friend of mine Sam Rutigliano always said, “Encouragement is oxygen to the soul”.  This is so true, as a leader it is your job to pick up your teammates throughout tough situations.  You are only a leader if you have followers.  The best way to get a teammate to follow you is to pick them up when they are down and praise them when they have done something great.  I have been a part of many teams and the guys who end up leading are the guys who no matter what the situation if you make an error, strike out or hit a homerun they are the first to love you up when you come off the field.

No matter if you are a coach, player, or at your job, be the leader and encourage your peers.  Then...

“ You are an elevator”
