College Softball Camp

On June 12th Pinnacle Sports hosted the 3rd annual College Softball Skills Camp at our Medina location.  45 high school softball players took part in this all day camp.  College coaches from the region worked the camp teaching and interacting with players and speaking about what it takes to get to and play at the next level.  After the camp there was a game portion where players showed off their talent to the college coaches in attendance.

There will be another opportunity for softball players to take part in an Elite College camp.  On July 10th, 11th & 12th, select college coaches from the region will be working directly with players in this elite camp.  There will be a new college coach each day of the camp working with and evaluating players.  The camp is designed for players in grades 7th-12th.

For more information go to our website www.PinnacleSports.org.  Stay tuned up and sharp before and during your season.  Pinnacle will be offering other summer camps and clinics for baseball and softball all summer.

Endurance

ENDURANCE

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty six times I have been trusted to make the game winning shot and missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.”  Michael Jordan

What is Endurance?
Enduring difficult situations to become stronger regardless
of how you may feel.

It’s described as…
To finish strong regardless of circumstances.
Do not grow tired of doing well for at the proper time.
You will receive great rewards if you do not give up and persevere.

Who are you?
Patience                         or                          Hot-headed
Staying power                 or                          Quits
Tenacious                       or                           Lets up
Battles                            or                          Surrenders
Finishes                           or                          Comes up short

Where does the game demand it?
• Play to the end. (whistle/buzzer/drill/practice/season/life)
• Don’t take any plays off.

ALWAYS!

Play Hard - I am determined to play until the end.

Play Together - I am determined to never quit on others.

Play Smart - I am determined to stay motivated no matter what.

Play True - I am determined to finish
with integrity.

Outcome: “You are a competitor.”

Thoughts from Rich

One of the books I has been recently reading (or re-reading) is “The 60 Second Leader” by Phil Dourado. The following brief piece jumped and slapped me in the face last week as I was reading the chapter on Optimism. This was written directly for ME but it surely has implications for EVERYONE (not only leaders).

“A leader’s mood is infectious. It can spread like wildfire through an organization. You can poison or uplift the mood without realizing it.” Mike Harris, found CEO, First Direct Bank.
Be very aware of how your slightest signals can affect people when you are in a position of power (that’s for all you formal leaders) or people look to you to lead (informal leaders).
“No one wants to work for a grouch. Research has proven it: optimistic, enthusiastic leaders more easily retain their people compared with those bosses who tend toward negative moods. Numerous studies show that when the leader is in a happy mood, the people around him view everything in a more positive light. That, in turn, makes them more optimistic about achieving their goals, enhances their creativity and the efficiency in their decision-making, and predisposes them to be helpful.” Primal Leadership,  Goleman/Boyatzis/McKee.

Don’t forget the Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
